PRESIDENT WARREN G. HARDING’S FIRST CABINET MEETING IN 1921

AN IMAGE OF PURE PRESIDENTIAL AND GOVERMENTAL POWER, BEARING THE SIGNATURES OF WHAT WERE TO BE THREE PRESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES, AND A FUTURE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE US SUPREME COURT

HARDING, WARREN G.  (1865-1923).  Twenty-ninth President of the United States (1921-1923); died in office, resulting in Calvin Coolidge becoming the 30^th President.  An impressive photograph depicting President Warren G, Harding’s first cabinet meeting in March of 1921.  Boldly signed by him and eleven of his cabinet members, two of which were to become future Presidents, and one who was to become the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.  The men are depicted sitting around a conference table in the White House, and each has signed beneath his image.

EDISON, THOMAS A.  (1847-1931). American inventor of the phonograph and the light bulb.   Very rare, superb, imperial cabinet Photograph Signed and inscribed:  “To my friend Lieb / from Thomas A. Edison, / Orange NJ  USA Oct. 29, 1891.”  Huge 7 ¼ ‘ x 11 ¾’ inches, [image size].  Mounted to a slightly larger original photographer’s mount [7 1/2 x 12 inches].

IBSEN  — RARELY SEEN, CABINET PHOTOGRAPH SIGNED  —  THE NYBLIN STUDIO

IBSEN, HENRIK.  (1828-1906)  Norwegian playwright, director, and poet;  Ibsen is viewed as one of the founders of Modernism in theater.   Rarely seen, Cabinet Photograph Signed, “Henrik Ibsen / 27.12.97”.

JAMES A. GARFIELD — AN IMPRESSIVE IMPERIAL CABINET PHOTOGRAPH

GARFIELD, JAMES (1831-1881)   20^th President of the United States; assassinated by Charles Guiteau, died September 19, 1881.   A magnificent and large Imperial Cabinet Photograph, depicting Garfield in a ¾ length pose, 1/2 profile – facing left, wearing a long suit coat, with his right hand positioned behind his back.  7 ½ x 13 inches overall.

SIGNED CARTE-DE-VISITE PHOTOGRAPH OF FRANZ LISZT

LISZT, FRANZ (1811-1886).   Hungarian Romantic era composer, piano virtuoso, and teacher.  An attractive carte-de-visite Photograph, depicting Liszt in a dramatic pose, standing aside a music stand and boldly Signed,  “F. Liszt.”

EDWARD STEICHEN  —  THE ’50 PHOTOGRAPHS BY 50 PHOTOGRAPHERS EXHIBITION’ 

STEICHEN, EDWARD.  (1879-1973).  American photographer.  Typed Letter Signed, “Edward Steichen”, on his name-imprinted The Museum of Modern Art letterhead.  One full page, quarto.  “11 West 53^rd Street, New York”, August 4, 1948.  Very fine condition.  To “F.B. Knoop, Executive Editor, The Farm Quarterly, 22 East 12^th Street, Cincinnati 10, Ohio”.

HINDENBURG, PAUL VON.   (1847-1934)   German field marshal, statesman, and politician.  Attractive, vintage post-card Photograph boldly Signed, “Von Hindenburg” along the vertical right margin.  Hindenburg is depicted in a full length pose, dressed in his military uniform, standing outdoors.
