Important Signed & Inscribed Books and Photographs

LISZT, FRANZ (1811-1886).   Hungarian Romantic era composer, piano virtuoso, and teacher.  An attractive, and scarce, carte-de-visite Photograph, depicting Liszt in a dramatic pose, standing aside a music stand and boldly Signed,  “F. Liszt.”  His signature is on the lower right photographic surface,  and goes over and onto the photographer’s mount.   Image by “Klosz Gy. Budapest” with their imprint on the photographic mount and also on the verso.  The back of the mount is oxidized brown, but this does not effect the image.  There is also a trace of previous mounting at top center, as seen in description, yet this too is not overly distracting.     The image itself is a powerful depiction of Lizst, depicting him in his later years.  The signature is dark and bold, and the item displays well.  In our experience, this image is seldom found, let alone found signed.  A choice memento of the great pianist!
