CHURCHILL, SIR WINSTON S.  (1874-1965).  British politician and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (1940-1945, 1951-1955).  Typed Letter Signed, “Yours sincerely, Winston S. Churchill”, on his imprinted Chartwell, Westerham, Kent stationery.  One page, quarto.  Kent, England, April 10, 1947.  File hole in left margin, else very fine condition.  To O.C. Preuss, Esq.  Churchill writes:

“Dear Mr. Preuss, Thank you very much for your letter of March 14 regarding the tunes.  I take a great interest in all this and look forward to dealing with the matter when I get the chance.  I am so pressed at the moment that I have to leave it in abeyance.  Pardon me.  I am most obliged to you for your continued interest.  Yours sincerely, Winston S. Churchill”.                         

Oscar C. Preuss was a major figure in the record industry during the first half of the twentieth-century. He served as the manager of both the Parlophone record label, a subsidiary of Columbia, and His Master’s Voice Gramophone Company, known today as HMV, before his retirement in 1955.
