Churchill writes:
“Dear Mr. Preuss, Thank you very much for your letter of March 14 regarding the tunes. I take a great interest in all this and look forward to dealing with the matter when I get the chance. I am so pressed at the moment that I have to leave it in abeyance. Pardon me. I am most obliged to you for your continued interest. Yours sincerely, Winston S. Churchill”.
Oscar C. Preuss was a major figure in the record industry during the first half of the twentieth-century. He served as the manager of both the Parlophone record label, a subsidiary of Columbia, and His Master’s Voice Gramophone Company, known today as HMV, before his retirement in 1955.
