YEATS, WILLIAM BUTLER (1865-1939) Irish poet, dramatist, and Nobel laureate. Autograph Letter Signed, “W.B. Yeats,” on imprinted 82, Merrion Square, Dublin letterhead. Two pages, octavo. Dublin. No date. To “Dear Mr. Macalister” Yeats writes:

“You came to see me some months ago- or was it your president … the name being the same I am not certain – about my proposal to found a body within the first academy which could act as an academy of letters. The matter has to be referred again to the council but from this moment to this I have heard nothing. Please let me know what the council has decided. Yours ever, WB Yeats.”
