THOMAS, DYLAN.  (1914 – 1953).  Welsh poet and prose writer whose works include radio broadcasts of: ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ and ‘Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog’; the poem ‘Do not go gentle into that good night’.  Scarce Agreement Signed: “Dylan Thomas”, being his acknowledgement at the conclusion of a Typed [carbon] Letter Signed to him from the ‘American Library of World Literature, Inc.’  One very full page, New York,  August 25, 1953. [just 3 months before is death.]

WALLACE, EDGAR.  (1875-1932).  English mystery-story writer; his last work was part-authorship of the film script for King Kong, which was finished shortly before his death.  Early Typed Letter Signed, “Edgar Wallace”, on his name-imprinted “Daily Mail” Office letterhead.  One full page, quarto.  “5, Tyne Buildings, Market Street, Johannesburg [South Africa]”, June 7, 1902. 

GEORGE WASHINGTON GOETHALS ~ THE CHIEF ENGINEER FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PANAMA CANAL

GOETHALS, GEORGE WASHINGTON. (1858-1928) U.S. Army officer and Civil Engineer; best known for his administration and supervision of the construction and the opening of the Panama Canal.  Uncommon Typed Letter Signed, “G. W. Goethals,” on Isthmian Canal Commission letterhead. One page, quarto. Culebra. December 4, 1913.  Fine condition.

DR. WILLIAM GORGAS — THE PHYSICIAN WHOSE WORK IN CONTROLLING MALARIA AND YELLOW FEVER MADE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PANAMA CANAL POSSIBLE

GORGAS, WILLIAM C. (1854-1920).  Army physician and Surgeon General of the United States Army; best known for his work combating the transmission of yellow fever and malaria by controlling the mosquitoes that carry them; his strategy was greeted with considerable skepticism and opposition to such hygiene measures; the measures he put into practice as the head of the Panama Canal Zone Sanitation Commission saved thousands of lives and contributed to the success of the Canal’s construction. Surprisingly uncommon Typed Letter Signed, “W.C. Gorgas,” on War Department, Office of the Surgeon General letterhead. One page, quarto. Washington March 31, 1916.  Very fine condition.

MANY OF WHOM WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE SEIGE OF LOUISBOURG, THE PIVOTAL OPERATION OF THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR IN 1758, THAT ENDED THE FRENCH COLONIAL ERA IN ATLANTIC CANADA AND LED TO THE SUBSEQUENT BRITISH CAMPAIGN TO CAPTURE QUEBEC IN 1759

AN EXTREMELY RARE PRINTED SIGNED OATH PLEDGING ALLEGIANCE TO KING GEORGE II  —  bearing fourteen signatures of major Colonial Jurists and political figures.  One page, tall folio.  No place, [Massachusetts Bay Colony], Undated, but most likely accomplished between 1727 and 1731.
