EDWARD STEICHEN — THE ’50 PHOTOGRAPHS BY 50 PHOTOGRAPERS EXIBITION’
STEICHEN, EDWARD. (1879-1973). American photographer. Typed Letter Signed, “Edward Steichen”, on his name-imprinted The Museum of Modern Art letterhead. One full page, quarto. “11 West 53rd Street, New York”, August 4, 1948. Very fine condition. To “F.B. Knoop, Executive Editor, The Farm Quarterly, 22 East 12th Street, Cincinnati 10, Ohio”. Steichen writes:
“Dear Mr. Knoop: We get kind of snowed under here every so often and hence the delay in answering your note with the gracious promise of sending me the Farm Quarterly. I am assuming that the Publicity Department has put you in touch with the 50 Photographs by 50 Photographers exhibition, which is apparently going over the top in grand style. I believe it is an important show and very timely. We had a few days with Carl up at the farm and he was sorry he missed you here in New York. Cordially yours, Edward Steichen”.
