HOUDINI SIGNS A SOCIETY OF AMERICAN MAGICIANS MEMBERSHIP CARD IN 1923

HOUDINI, HARRY.  (1874-1926)   Legendary Hungarian-American magician, escapologist, showman, film producer and actor.  Partly-printed multi-color ‘’The Society of American Magicians’’ membership card Signed: “Harry Houdini,” as president of the society.  Membership card is for Earl DeForrest, member #989.   24 mo. [3 ¼ x 2 ¼ inches] 1923.  Red underprint seal of the society at center.  Fine condition.  Houdini vastly expanded the membership of the society during his term as National President from 1917–1926.  Earl DeForrest was still an active magician into the late 1950’s.  These membership cards are deceptively rare, and would make an excellent addition to any collection of magic related material.
