ROOSEVELT, FRANKLIN DELANO.  (1882-1945).  Thirty-second President of the United States (1933-45).  Typed Letter boldly Signed, “Franklin D. Roosevelt”, on imprinted Navy Department, Assistant Secretary’s Office letterhead.  One page, quarto.  Washington, D.C., October 20, 1917.  Very fine condition.  To “The Very Reverend Howard C. Robbins, D.D., Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York City”.  Roosevelt writes: “My dear Dean Robbins: I wish very much that it were possible for me to attend the special service on October 28th, but I fear I cannot leave Washington.  I hope, nevertheless, that I shall have the pleasure of seeing you at one of the Trustee’s meetings soon.  Always faithfully yours, Franklin D. Roosevelt”.
