CHARLES DICKENS BOLDLY SIGNED CHECK

DICKENS, CHARLES.  (1812-1870).  English novelist.  Partly Printed Check Signed, “Charles Dickens”.  One page, oblong octavo.  London, Twenty-first October, 1861.  Very fine condition.  Drawn on Messrs. Coutts & Company and made out in Dickens’ holograph to “Messrs Gulet and Co” in the amount of “twenty-five pounds and six pence” sterling.  Embossed one-penny revenue stamp at right.  Stamped dockets and cancellations not affecting Dickens’ signature.
