MCKINLEY ACCEPTS CONGRATULATIONS ON HIS RE-ELECTION

McKINLEY, WILLIAM (1843-1901) 25th President of the United States. Typed Letter Signed, “William McKinley,” as President, on Executive Mansion, Washington letterhead. One page, quarto. Washington, November 14, 1900.  McKinley writes to Gen. Albert D. Shaw, Watertown, NY:

“Dear General Shaw: Please accept my cordial thanks for your message of congratulation, which was duly received. Assuring you that your kindly comment is appreciated, believe me, Very sincerely yours, William McKinley.”

ALBERT D. SHAW (1841-1901) was a U.S. Representative from New York and U.S. Consul to Toronto, Canada, and Manchester, England. Aside from his political work, Shaw served as a member of the NY volunteers during the American Civil War and as a member of the New York National Guard. Some minor bleeding and toning around McKinley’s signature.  Overall very fine condition.
