Longfellow”,  with internal printed Internal Revenue tax stamp.  7″ x 2.75″ inches, Cambridge, Massachusetts.   September 6, 1881. Check is made out in Longfellow’s hand to: “W.T. Richarsen & Co. or order”  in the amount of : Two hundred eighty five dollars & twenty five cents.   Drawn on the Charles River National Bank.  Two punch hole cancellations,  not affecting signature.  Rather scarce thus.   Ex- Paul C. Richards collection of Financial Americana, with his code penciled on verso noting he got it in 1989.  A fine piece for the collector of Longfellow or Financial Americana.
