GEORGE BUSH ON THE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ASTRONAUT ED WHITE THE 1ST AMERICAN TO WALK IN SPACE WHO WAS KILLED IN THE TRAGIC APOLLO 1 FIRE

 

BUSH, GEORGE HERBERT WALKER.  (1924-2018).  Forty-first President of the United States (1989-93); Vice President; Chief of the Liaison Office to the People’s Republic of China (1974).   Good Typed Letter Signed, “George Bush”, on his name imprinted Congress of the United States House of Representatives letterhead.  One page,  quarto.  “Washington, D.C.”, March 11, 1969.  To “John M. McNabb, Maj. Gen. USAF Commander Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas 76311”.   Fine condition.  Bush writes:

“Dear General McNabb, Thank you very  much for your letter of February 28 inviting me to the dedication of the dormitory to the memory of the late Col. White.  I enjoyed our visit on the phone the other day and am sorry to miss this dedication.  I will see Pat White before this and will express my regret to her, also.  I have a long-standing speaking engagement in Houston at noon on April 12th. Thanks again for your thoughtful letter. Yours very truly, George Bush”.
