A SCARCE $2 GREAT SALT LAKE CITY VALLEY NOTE, SIGNED BY BRIGHAM YOUNG
YOUNG, BRIGHAM. (1801-1877). American religious leader and colonizer of Utah. Uncommon Partly-printed Document Signed, “B. Young”, being a $2 Mormon currency note. One page, oblong 32mo. “G[reat]. S[alt]. L[ake]. City”, January 20, 1849. Fine condition. The note reads: “GOOD to N.K. Whitney or bearer, two DOLLARS on demand”. Boldly signed by “Th[omas] Bulloch (clerk), H[erber] C. Kimball, and B[righam] Young”. Blindstamped with the seal of the Twelve Apostles. Also accompanied by a CDV of Brigham Young, by C.R.Savage, of Salt Lake City. Young is pictured in bust pose [Margins trimmed]. The note is in excellent condition and a rare find of an authentic non-serial numbered note, from the first issuance of currency. This note originates from a collection that was amassed in the 1970’s.
