WANTS TO HAVE TELEPHONES INSTALLED

IN HIS CONNETICUT HOME

BARNUM, P(HINEAS) T(AYLOR). (1810-91). American showman, businessman and entertainer; Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus founder. Autograph Letter Signed “P. T. Barnum” on his imprinted Marin[a] stationery. One page, octavo, Bridgeport, Connecticut, May 16, 1889. “Received / Answered by Auditor” stamped docket at top left with the date of:  “May 17, 1889”, and docketed that he had “Lease 32350“.  Two round punch file holes at top, otherwise Very fine condition.  Barnum writes:

“Connecticut Telephone Co / Please let me have two speaking tube telephones and transmitters from my house across the road to my barn on my own premises.  PT Barnum.”

 

Just an engaging letter from Barnum’s pen.
