American newspaper publisher; developed the nation’s largest newspaper chain, Hearst Communications; famous for his yellow journalism, and headlines of lurid stories featuring crime, sex and corruption. Uncommon Typed Letter Signed, with an additional long postscript also signed. Thus, it is signed in full twice “W.R. Hearst”. Written on his imprinted Cosmopolitan Productions letterhead. One page, quarto. New York City, June 1st, 1921. To Adolph Zukor, President, Famous Players, Lasky Corporation. Partly typed letter with a good portion of Hearst’s handwritten words below:
“My dear Mr. Zukor, Please understand that In this situation Mr. Van Cleve has full authority to act for me. Yours very truly, W.R. Hearst / I write this so that there may be no doubt as to who is my authorized representative with whom you may take up all these matters in dispute. W.R. Hearst.”
