FORMER FIRST LADY, LADY BIRD JOHNSON,  THANKS HER CORRESPONDENT FOR HIS CONTIRBUTION TO THE NATIONAL WILDFLOWER RESEARCH CENTER — A CAUSE WHICH SHE CHAMPIONED

 

JOHNSON, CLAUDIA “LADY BIRD” (1912-2007) First Lady of the United States. Typed Letter Signed, “Lady Bird Johnson,” on her illustrated LBJ Ranch Stonewall, Texas stationery. One page, quarto. Stonewall, Texas. “June 13, 1984.” Accompanied by a LBJ RANCH envelope with Johnson’s printed and stamped Free-Frank addressed to “Mr. Joseph F. Fawls, Post Office Box U Manhasset, New York 11030”.  She writes:

 

“Dear Mr. Fawls: Thank you for the heartwarming note. I am grateful to know your feelings about Lyndon and I appreciate your sharing them with me. It will give me the greatest pleasure to send along your check to the National Wildflower Research Center. It is my hope and belief that the Center will play useful and constructive role in the life of our country, and I thank you for all wanted to be a part of it. With all good wishes, Sincerely, Lady Bird Johnson.”

 

Accompanied by a Typed Letter Signed by Carole Bryant, Personal Secretary to Mrs. Johnson, on illustrated LBJ Ranch stationery. One page, quarto. Stonewall, Texas. “July 29, 1985.” Bryant writes to J.F. Fawls to thank him for his donation and also informs him that Mrs. Johnson is away on a six-week trip to Europe.
