RUTHERFORD B. HAYES’ SIGNED PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH BEFORE CONGRESS FOR THE SUPPORT OF THE ARMY
HAYES, RUTHERFORD B. (1822-1893). Nineteenth President of the United States (1877-1881). Uncommon, and rather scarce “Message / of the / President of the United States / Returning to the House of Representatives / the / Bill Entitled ‘An Act Making Appropriations for the Support / of the Army for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, / 1880 and for other purposes.” – Dated “April 29, 1879. Washington: Government Printing Office / 1879”. Boldly signed in the top margin: “With Compliments of / R.B. Hayes” almost certainly as President. A 12 page bound booklet, internally sewn into the wrapper / covers, that at one time was folded for mailing. Housed in a custom folding clamshell box, that will sit perfectly on your shelf. These Presidential off-prints are rather special ‘presidential’ items that deserve serious consideration by any collector of Presidential books. Very fine condition.
