BORN, MAX. (1882-1970). German-British physicist and Nobel laureate; outstanding theoretical physicist noted for his fundamental contributions in quantum theory; shared the 1954 Nobel Prize in physics with the German physicist Walter Bothe. Typed Letter signed, “M. Born” in German, on the verso of a postcard bearing his address as “328 Bad Pyrmont, Marcardstrasse 4, West Germany” and addressed to “Prof E. Kapal, Physiologisches Institute”, Munich, and bearing 2 German postage stamps. May 28, 1963. Fine condition. He writes: “Very kind Professor Kapal. I have no further reprints of my essay ‘Reflections on the Theory of Color’ [Betrachtungen zir Farbenlehre]. You can have the relevant issue of Natural Wiscesse…from Springer-Verlag, at 69 Heidelberg, Postfach 3027 for 3.00 Deutsch marks. The issue will be reprinted in February 1964. If you write, I can give you a hard copy…M. Born”.
