“T’ HELL WIT THEM.  THIS IS A FINE DAY IN VERMONT ANYWAY AND OUGHT TO MAKE IT UP TO US FOR A LOT OF LITTLE ANNOYANCES.”

FROST, ROBERT.  (1874-1963).  American poet.  Good Autograph Letter Signed, “Robert Frost”.  Two pages, octavo.  South Shaftsbury, Vermont, July 15th, 1930.  Very fine condition.  To “Dear Mr. Brickell”.  Frost writes:

“Dear Mr. Brickell: Suppose we leave it this way then that you are to let Longmans have sheets if they will take what you consider a large number of them; but if they seem afraid of me and cautious in their buying, you are to give them a chance to get out altogether.  I’m disappointed in them.  They kept me from everybody else and now they don’t want me themselves.  They are an infirm firm.  I’d rather give them their money barely than be their unwanted child.  In other words t’ Hell wit them.  This is a fine day in Vermont anyway and ought to make it up to us for a lot of little annoyances.  I hope it is a fine day in your office.  Sincerely Yours, Robert Frost”

A fine , relatively early from Frost’s pen showing frustration with getting his poems published and paid for.
