LIMITED SIGNED EDITION OF KING EDWARD VIII’S MEMOIRS
EDWARD VIII. (1894-1972). King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Emperor of India (January 20-December 11, 1936); later known as the Duke of Windsor. The limited signed edition of his: A KING’S STORY. Memoirs of the Duke of Windsor. 433 pages, small quarto. Wonderfully bound in gilt imprinted red full morocco leather, with deep red silk endpapers. Front cover is gilt imprinted with the 3 seals of Edward’s royal ranks and facsimile signatures. 5 raised bands on spine, and housed in the original red cloth covered slip case. Van Rees Press, New York, 1951. Copy # 108 or 350. Boldly signed by him: “Edward” on the limitation page. Extremely fine condition. Within these pages, Edward gives the details of his early life, travels, and of his meeting Wallis Simpson, the soon to be American divorcee, for whom Edward would abdicate his throne. [his recounting of meeting Wallis for the first time is simply remarkable. It centered around: central heating!] A fabulous copy that would make a fine gift or addition to any collector’s set of modern monarchs and royalty.
