AN AARON BURR FREE-FRANKED ADDRESS-LEAF AS VICE PRESIDENT
BURR, AARON. (1756-1836). American revolutionary officer and political leader; 3RD Vice President of the U.S. His bold Franking Signature, “A. Burr,” penned on an address leaf entirely in Burr’s hand to “The Hon. / John Rutherford / Trenton.” With straight “Free” and sea-shell “Aug[ust] 17 / New York” postal cancellations. Pencil notation indicates this is of Vice-Presidential date in 1801, just 3 years before he killed Alexander Hamilton in their famous duel. Very fine condition.
