UNCOMMON CHECK SIGNED BY GEORGE CLYMER

SIGNER OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDANCE

CLYMER, GEORGE. (1739-1813).  American politician, abolitionist and Founding Father of the United States; one of only six founders who signed both the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution;  among the earliest patriots to advocate for complete independence from Britain.  Uncommon Partly-printed “Philadelphia Bank” Check Signed, “Geo. Clymer”.  One page, oblong small octavo.  [approx 5 ½ x 2 ¼ inches].  Philadelphia, June 23, 1804.   Made payable to “AB” [ie self or bearer] for $12.00.  Punch cancellation, else very fine condition.  Clymer served as the first president of the Philadelphia Bank, which was founded in 1803.

Checks signed by the Signers of the Declaration of Independence are rather uncommon, and are a wonderful way to collect them in a size and format that is easily displayable.
