Approximately 7 x 5 inches. Written on striking embossed stationary, with a cameo of Africa ‘The Dark Continent’ imprinted at the top left. ‘160 New Bond Street, London. June 23, 1886’. To the wife of artist Rudolf Lehmann. The man who ‘discovered’ Dr. David Livingstone writes:
“Mr. H.M. Stanley presents his Compliments to Mrs. Rudolf Lehman & begs to thank her for the honor of her card. At home and to answer her that he will do himself the honor of allowing, if in town that day, 30th June.”
This letterhead is quite scarce, and would make a fine item for framing or display.
