“Dear Perlzweig, In the near future you
will hear from one of the truest friends of Israel. He is my beloved
friend, Professor Ralph Harlow of Smith College, perhaps the greatest
of American colleges for women. I shall ask Mrs. Eitelberg, my Zionist
secretary, to send you a copy of a letter he addressed to me from
Athens. It will give you the spirit of the man. He is going to be
in England during July and August, lecturing. I would like him to
meet you; and would you not see to it that he meets other people?
Leonard Montefiore, for example, and some of our other friends. Professor
Harlow is a great and true friend of Israel. I shall not give him
any letter. I am simply sending this one letter to you. I would like
him to meet people like Sir Philip and Lady Hartung, that he may see
some of our best. With hearty greeting, I am Faithfully yours, Stephen.
c/o His address, American Express Co. Haywassett.”
