“(If I may so presume in my 70 years). Thank you for your cheque. I will take up affairs with old Holmes and let you know what has been done. I think mama has arranged her weekends for me in December but I don’t quite know where, and anyhow it will be very delightful to have a weekend with you. Yours truly, H.G. Wells.”
