“My dear Masenede, Forain brought me the drawings which I asked him for. I have asked one of my friends to dine with me; perhaps you can come to discuss at that time your affairs at tomorrow’s dinner. See if that is convenient for you. If it is not convenient, say when it would be convenient. Friendship, Ed Manet.”
